Farm Girl's Love their aprons..or at least love collecting them!

Me..I love collecting them..I guess that reason is mostly because my grandmother always, every day... wore an apron..a half apron..with a pocket.

She used her apron to wipe her hands after doing dishes, to keep her skirts clean when she did her other chores.She kept things like a piece of candy, or a hanky, or bits of sewing supplies in her pocket..she was always crocheting or creating something with her hands.

Sadly..I do not own one of my grandmother's aprons..but I certainly have fond memories of her always "tying one on!"

In fact it was always a funny game between my dad and my granny..anytime dad saw granny at the sink washing dishes , and if he happened to walk by, he'd pull her apron strings..then she'd turn and pop her wet wash cloth at him..it was always good for a laugh as he'd duck like a little kid to avoid her popping him with the rung out wash cloth...ha.

I have been collecting aprons and items like vintage hats and purses now for several years.

In fact a few years back I even used to sell a few of my finds in an antique booth..but now I simply collect them.

My favorite apron is one that I acquired a few years ago on an ebay auction.

It is almost entirely hand sewn/stitched by hand.

I have never seen another apron like it.And I must say I do not know the age, but judge it to be from the late 40's to early 50's based upon the feel of the fabric.

The pocket is a chicken!

And I just love that combination of red gingham edged with black rick rack.

And the scalloped edging.

This apron hangs in my kitchen on a peg rack devoted to all things "farm girly!"

Decora-tea March 30th-April 5th

I've been participating in the "blog-a-thon" hosted by Gracious Hospitality for the last few weeks. This weeks theme is "Decora-tea". Showcasing the tea related items that we use to decorate with in our homes.

Here are a few of my items. I like to collect vintage embroidered linens..and have a small collection of "Suthern Belle" gals.

These little plates are some of my favorites..I have them on a little plate rack in my dining room now. And the cups were given to me by my mother in law..I have a few of them displayed on my dining room buffet.

Farmhouse Treasures!!..."Spring Cleaning Sale!!"

I had mentioned a while back that I was redoing my decor to create more of a "shabby chic" look in my home.

I have kept a few wee things farm girly related, and have devoted a small area of my kitchen completely to my "inner farm girl"

First up is this wonderful quilted wall hanging. This lovely wall hanging is totally quilted.

Features absolutely darling country sayings and images on it.( In a country blue, barn red, and navy blue colors.A really nice addition to your country/farm girl decor!

Measures 32 inches wide by 39 1/2 inches long.

(you'll want to acquire your own dowel rod for hanging/a rod pocket is sewn into the quilt/but for ease of shipping dowel rod is not included)

Next up..a hand painted coffee pot(for decorative purposes only)

This coffee pot has the prettiest hand painted grapes and melons on it. Very "farm/country" looking and oh so charming!

It is edged with a robins egg blue/aqua trim.

Would look absolutely lovely with an arrangement of cheery daisies in it/the lid does open as shown in photo.

Would make a darling centerpiece. Measures 10 inches tall.
