In love With Irises

So there I was last night sitting on the floor of my kitchen area with 11 big plastic pots surrounding me that had been filled with potting soil. Nearby was a large box I had received a few days earlier from Stoney Creek Iris (http://www.stoneycreekiris.com/) 39 varieties of beautiful iris rhizomes to get potted up.

What fun!
-----------------
I found the plastic pots at my local Kmart yesterday at 70 % off! Pots that were normally $9.99 were marked down to $3..I saved myself a whopping $77 on plant pots. Yay! I think every gal likes a nice bargain every now and again.
----------
But..back to the Irises. I am smitten..and my Irises haven't even bloomed yet..but..I know what they will look like when they do, and that is what excites me!
---------------
Look at some of the varieties that I will be growing. What an amazing array of colors!
-----------------
If you love Irises I highly recommend dealing with "Stoney Creek Iris" next year . Get your order in early next year though(around the end of March/First of April, as lovely Irises like these ones sell out quickly.

Those are lovely. There is a plot of irises near where we live - just a rough plot in the middle of blueberry and hay fields - with the most outstanding irises - we drive out there several times a season just to see them. They are numbered and named on little stakes and you can write your order on a slip of paper and leave it and a check in the box - what a fun, old fashioned way to order iris - and then they call you up when the tubers are ready.

Your photos are amazing.

I too love Iris. I was fortunate to get some from my mom who had several hybrid varieties . I hadn't heard that you could pot them, as they are usually grown in the yard..very pretty!!!

I am with you on loving Iris and now that they have the reblooming ones super. I am in process of making one bed that is all Daffydills and Narcisis with a section of Tulips. I am outlining the back of the bed I am putting in Iris. I have some old ones with a wonderful scent. Thank you for the link, I will check it out. Enjoy all your pretties.

Hi Tina, Irises grow really well here,I don't have any but I guess you can't have everything in the flower department. I go more for roses.
How is the house hunting going? I havven't heard if you have sold yours, I hope so. TTFN

I don't have any irises in my garden, but I have to admit I have been tempted. I've been going to the Chelsea Flower Show for the past few years and there are lots of stands displaying an amazing variety of irises. They are just lovely.
